New Year - New Me
We take a look at those pesky New Year's Resolutions
New Years Resolutions, do you like them?
I find myself often failing by about... Now to be honest. Two weeks in and I'm still writing (and crossing out) last years date and I've virtually given up on whatever I set myself. Well this year I'm keeping it simple with some really quick wins that don't take long to do and don't require much effort. Here's my list, I hope it inspires you!
Vitamin D.
It's the UK, it's cold, it's wet, it's often the same in the summer. Indeed both the NHS and BHF recommend taking a Vitamin D supplement during the Winter months. It's an easy one for me becuase it sits on my computer desk, so it goes down with my morning coffee.
(disclaimer: As always, seek medical advice from somebody far more qualified than me if you're going to change/start taking any pills)
Closing My Rings.
If you've watched me on Youtube (You have right??) then you may have spotted an Apple Watch on my wrist. It has 3 "rings" which you look to close by doing various tasks, one of which I seem to struggle with daily. The inner ring is the "Stand Ring" and to close it I need to stand up for minimum 1min for 14hrs of the day.
Now, the morning and evenings are fine (thanks kids...) but the daytime is much harder. Sat in front of a computer for 8hrs will do that! So far I've closed this ring 12/13 times (damn you, January 8th) and hope to make it 30/31 this month.
Taking Notes
I've been using my phone for this for as long as I can remember. The trouble is that my notes are an incoherant mess.
So, enter a new notebook! Actually this one was pre-organised as I received it as a Christmas Gift. but nonetheless it's going to house my random thoughts and whims throughout the year (think song ideas, putting out fires on FPL etc). Leaving my phone to be home to those important business/life things (such as putting out fires on FPL).
Three is enough...
There are likely more pressing matters that I should attend to but when you start including loads of complexities in your NY Resolutions you seem to get none of them done. At least in my experience anyway.
So I'm sticking with these three for now; and when they become habits I'll perhaps add some more.
Good luck with your resolutions this year, I wish you all the best!
And if you've already failed them then there's always next year.
